Prolonged exposure can cause

  • Macular degeneration - This is caused when retina of your eyes are deteriorating. The blue and violet light from the sun increases the deteriorating speed intensely, causing vision problems and can also lead towards blindness.
  • Skin cancer -  The skin surrounding the eyes are in a much greater risk in getting a skin cancer. Eyelids are very soft skinned, the chances of getting a sunburn and damage is very high.
  • Cataracts -   The cataracts is the clouding of the normally clear lens of the eyes. UV rays from the sun increases the rate of cataract formation. This also leads to impaired vision and blindness.
  • Glaucoma - this also a type of damage caused to the eye optic nerve. Exposure to the UV rays will leads towards blindness.
  • Pterygium - This is a small growth in the corona of the eyes. This is caused due to the prolonged exposure to the UV rays from the sun, dust and wind.

  • Orange and Yellow lenses can be used for protection against blue light.Blue and Purple lenses provide the least protection against Blue light.
  • Gray color shade lense can be considered good. Gray color lense is least distorted for color perception and also the most neutral.
  • Brown lense can be good for people with color vision deficiencies.
  • Polarized lenses will reduce reflection and glare it allows you to see at a greater depth. It is just an optional add-on advantage that you can have on your sunglasses.
  • Poly carbonate lenses are an ideal plastic for sunglasses lenses. They are safe and light weighted.
  • The darker lenses may give you a coolness to your eyes but don’t always give more protection to your eyes from UV rays.
