Our second day in nilambur and we started our ride at 9.30 am. We had tea and our breakfast.
We ride to nilambur kovilakam but it was a disappointing one as there is nothing to see there and no entry for outsiders. From nilambur kovilakam we headed towards Conolly’s plot.
We got up at 5.00 am and start the side towards Ooty. Ooty is only 100kms from Nilambur.
The ride was superb and it was freezing cold, after 1 hour of ride we stopped for taking some stills.
On the way we had our food from a local hotel. We reached ooty in an hour from there.
We started our ride from our hotel room to palakkad fort which was only 3 kms.
The Palakkad fort was surrounded by water channel around the fort. This fort is also known as Tipu’s fort and it is located in the heart of the Palakkad town.
The entry is free for visitors. The fort was built by Hyder Ali(1717-1782), the emperor of Mysore now part of Karnataka state.
Inside the fort there is small hanuman temple , sub jail and Martyr’s column can be seen.
We can experience the beauty of the entire fort by going to the top of the fort. The lush green gardens make the fort even more beautiful to view from a distance.
